(there can be only one. #highlander)
Early this morning a Facebook fan messaged me with a link to a post on Reddit/r/pics...a member posted this(my) image as original content. And while strictly speaking he didn't claim to be the creator or the piece in the original post, in responses to the first few comments in that thread and in a futurama sub he certainly took credit for it. So I went in and cleared it up...and sent out links on FB and Twitter asking any of my followers if they'd vouch for me. They did, it and it's awesome: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Other people post my pics a lot. Happens a lot on Instagram, with the welds and the sculptures. I don't necessarily have an issue with it if they give me credit...or at the very least DON'T claim it as their own work. Friends and fans keep telling me to watermark stuff, but I've already got like 10k+ unmarked images on Flickr alone. Besides, it's more entertaining calling douchebags out.
So now my goal is to become so internet famous that everyone just recognizes my work when they see it. HA!

These are awesome. You should make one were he is bending a bolt, and there is a huge pile of bent bolts behind him. And a stack of unbent ones next to him.

That is so cool.
I can understand your anger. The interweb is full of wannabes and posers.
I would buy one of those if you ever decide to sell them. (besides, you're a fellow Jalop/Oppo)

The OP is now messaging me telling me he never took credit for my "TOY", but that if I put it on the internet it's "free to the world." And that, folks, is why this world has far too many starving artists.

There's no sense in arguing/discussing this with him. He's evidently in a different world.
I bet he's 12 years old. I would have hoped he learned something and grew from this episode but it doesn't sound like he's learned it at this point.

A bit off topic but I just wanted to say I'm really glad to have you on here. I've been a fan of your work for years and everything you've posted to oppo has been incredibly interesting or just straight up entertaining (as is the case with this one).

Looking at his profile he's a recent grad about to start a career in teaching. God save our children.
I've been getting better at letting shit go...but sometimes I can't help myself.

"I've been getting better at letting shit go" - that's probably the one thing you learn as you get older. I really need to work on that too. Especially when driving.
"Looking at his profile he's a recent grad about to start a career in teaching" - yike! This just gets more depressing! I REALLY hope he learns and matures as he goes. He's starting pretty much from zero.
oh, BTW, I just got back from the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh. I took a TIG workshop hosted by Lincoln. I got to try their 175 model without using a filler rod. Amazingly easy. My experience is that they have everything dialed in to make it so. And when I get home (to my MIG), it's never that easy. I also got to try a bit of oxy/hydrogen gas aluminum welding. Possibly doable. Lots of flux and getting those purple glasses.
The experience made me want to get a TIG machine. I asked the Lincoln instructor why should I buy Lincoln instead of the Eastwood machine for half the price. He's not sales and didn't seem ready for that question. I felt bad. He went on about quality which I have no doubt Lincoln/Miller is much higher quality but I wonder if Eastwood would be fine for the occasional hobby use I would do. I felt bad enough for him that I didn't ask him that. Do you have an opinion? Although what I really need to do is get better with my MIG, not spend more money on another toy.

Man, I can't even imagine. Any estimates on how long it'll be until you're back doing your welding voodoo magic again?

Full disclosure: I'm a Miller guy through and through. I'm sponsored by them now, but I've always used blue when I put my own cash down. My main machine is the Dynasty 200DX, and I love it. I've had it for 6-7 years now. I've also got the Multimatic 200 and it's rad too, DC tig, mig, and stick. I've used the Diversion 165 and 180 and they've worked fine, but don't have a lot of time on either.
I couldn't tell you much about the Eastwood machines.
I really want to get in to gas welding al. Talked to Ron Fornier about it a bit at his shop....that guy is a legend.

Thanks for the input. For the little use I'd probably do, I can't imagine spending the money on Lincoln or Miller. And for that little use, I should just stick with and get better with my MIG.

This cast comes off Tuesday. Then 4-5 weeks rehab. 2nd surgery is September 16th. "Back to work" date is November 10th I believe, if all goes well.

When you do go tig, don't cheap out. In the long run you'll be happier with the nicer machine.

Yikes. That's a lot of stir crazy/writing time. Time to practice welding with your feet? What could go wrong.
